Featuring collections as diverse as the community, the Brooklyn is a dynamic institution that must work hard in the New York region to receive the acclaim that would be a given in any other major city. Through an expansion underground and careful planning, departments that had been scattered and intruding into public floors were removed and co-located, creating better public flow and greater support space efficiency.
By moving support functions out of more central areas the museum could open up new exhibit areas, a café and bookstore.
